'Is That All There Is? -- The Strange Life of Peggy Lee' by James Gavin is a very thorough and interesting book about the legendary singer who died in 2002. There's quite a bit of discussion of her brief association with A&M in 1975.

To put it charitably, she could be a challenge to work with, according to quoted sources. There were artistic disputes with the Leiber & Stoller team while working on the 'MIRRORS' album. This recording, now considered a classic, drew negative reviews at the time. Live audience reaction to some of the songs resulted in spontaneous decisions to remove them from her set lists.

Much earlier Lee worked with Guitarist John Pisano and predicted his future success with the TJB. She had an infatuation with Jerry Moss from the first time they met to sign her, and she made a habit of calling him at home on weekends to discuss contract terms in fine detail.

Thus far I've only flipped through the book and read the A&M related story in detail. It looks like an absorbing and fun read.
