And while he and Hall have concert dates books into mid-December, next February Alpert plans to hit the road with a revived version of the Tijuana Brass, the band he led from the early ‘60s into the mid-70s and released hits such as the Billboard Hot 100 top 10 “The Lonely Bull” and the Billboard 200-topping 1965 album Whipped Cream & Other Delights.

I am looking forward to his Revived Tijuana brass he always said " it was more of a sound rather than an actual group with his latest effort It sounds more TJBish than usual it will be interstellar to see the lineup of musicians he chooses this time as almost all the original members are sadly no longer with us and Pat senatore is living in italy nevertheless I enjoyed every TJB version in the past and I will sure enjoy this go around.

Now, how awesome would it be for him to record some of the performances, and couple it with some original Tijuana Brass live, TJB live, Bullish version TJB live, and finally give us a CD recording of Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass LIVE.

Buried in the same article: "He plans to release a recording of “The Christmas Song” for this holiday season (“It touches me, and I feel like a lot of people might feel the same”) and reports that “I have another Christmas album in my head.”

It'll be his third recording of "The Christmas Song":

But Herb has proven very good at new approaches to the same song over the years, and yeah, I'd love to hear it.

and reports that “I have another Christmas album in my head.”

Again---yes, please.

I meant to say "Interesting " Not interstellar stupid auto correct strikes again.

If this materializes, I will probably have to drive to another state to see it. Or maybe he'll appear in some of the states I do like, out west, and include it in one of the road trips. 😁

Not to bury the lead, but I wonder what a new Tijuana Brass tour would be like.
1) septet or TJB size or other number
2) using some reimagined arrangements
3) current touring band members with added brass
4) opening or closing act for his current show
5) just part of his current show
6) how long the show will be
7) have an opening act like the old days

One thing to remember as mentioned elsewhere Herb Always said the Tijuana brass was more of a sound rather than an actual group and sounds always evolve and change with the times I think he might be doing another similar concept like he did with "Bullish" minus the olympic games and Bullish was Herb's idea of how the TJB would sound like in 1984. That is if my memory serves me correctly

Though it sounds intriguing, I can't help but thinking about this release:

It promised much, but it was hardly "Tijuana Brass".

Given Herb's recent output, both live and recorded, I'm not worried. I think he's very much found his own timeless thing.

I'm not worried either - but I *do* think about things like that. I'll still be first in line to see a concert or buy a record from Herb.

If this materializes I may go thrice 🎺

I think his last visit to our area was 15 years ago, and I still had to drive an hour and a half. Time and schedule permitting, I might be able to squeeze in one out of town appearance. Then again, if Ticketmaster is involved, that is an absolute deal killer for me and I will pass on it. Let's hope someone decides to do a video of the concert, as I far prefer watching videos to attending live concerts these days. For health reasons I'm very crowd-adverse anyway.

I saw Herb's show last year and it was not Ticketmaster. I got the tickets directly through the venue. I would go North or South but most likely no further north than Central Jersey/Philly because NY traffic is a deal breaker for me also. I could go as far South as the Virgina-NC border area. I have two places as I am in between and not yet ready to retire so that covers a pretty large area and a lot of venues.

Im with you on the Venue. The venue is a deal breaker for me. The place I saw them in Philly was wonderful and very accommodating for anyone that wanted to go. You could literally pick seats spaced out by themselves in a single row. I am pretty sure Herb sticks with the smaller venues.

That is a relief! I may have to see if this tour materializes and follow which cities he appears in.

The theater I saw Herb at in 2009 was quite packed, probably because it was decades since he'd been here prior. I just wonder how much more popular a TJB-themed concert would be in comparison to his normal gigs--I think a lot of people who wouldn't attend one of his smaller shows might flock to a TJB-themed gig as it's nostalgic and it's a name they recognize from their past hit singles.

People are going to love seeing this one, I'm sure. And I would wager that he's not going to do it in Bullish fashion either. Anyone attending wants to hear all the familiar TJB songs (even if they have a slightly new twist to them), and I'm sure he's thinking in that direction also.

I saw the 70s "T.J.B." for both of those records and they filled the outdoor amphitheater, despite how the records were selling, and quite a few of the older TJB songs were played in addition to songs from You Smile and Coney. Both times, they closed with "Zorba." Hmmmm.... 🤔
