It says sue to health reasons Richard has had to cancel his tour

I just saw that Richard has had to cancel his tour due to health reasons.

Many of the venues were just not selling. I wish him a speedy recovery and hope it is not serious, but in another way I am also thankful he won't have to play to several half-empty theatres.

Got the cancellation notification in the mail today for the final concert of the tour in Portsmouth, which immediately had me worrying about Richard. Was very much looking forward to spending about a week in the UK and seeing Richard in concert a few times, but health definitely comes above all I always say, so I hope he'll be feeling better and stronger soon, for his own health's sake most of all 💪🌞🖖

thats a shame, i was really looking forward to seeing him at Basingstoke.
hope he's ok, although it may be that it just wasnt selling - they usually say it's health reasons in those circumstances

The whole tour seemed wonky from the outset. Terrible - for the most part - choice of venues in very far flung places and there has been zero marketing and promotion to the general public here in the UK (setting aside to fans who follow his social media channels).

Special, one-off tours like this need promotion several months in advance to drum up interest. It didn't have to be in-person trips to the UK by Richard - it could have simply been online interviews with some of the major UK TV channels. Tony Denton is usually a great UK promoter but he seems to have really dropped the ball on this one.

I'm so disappointed not to be seeing Richard in the UK, for what would have been a first for me, but I send him my very best wishes.

I am so sorry for those who had tickets. What a punch in the gut this must feel like. I agree, Stephen, everything seemed so strangely planned. Why not do théâtres in big cities.

Just had confirmation that my Leeds tickets have been refunded. That was quick.

I hope there will be an official announcement made on Richard's Instagram account soon, if only to reassure fans about his health.

It was a long time ago and there could well have been more than one Sara lol. I don't think I was that much of a prolific poster... I know I discovered it later than many, internet wasn't as accessible for everyone back then

My refund came through the next day. Obviously gutted that he won’t be going on tour but pleased Richard is ok. I see some people on Facebook are asking if he’ll reschedule?

He's not rescheduling, the whole thing has been cancelled. I've received my refund from Leeds already, can't fault them for the speed with which they processed it. Such a shame it's not going ahead.

I'm so disappointed it was the chance of a lifetime to see RC. Never mind though his health has to be his priority I had a txt to look out for an email with no information and no email as yet so checked on here as knew there'd be more information.

Okay, so I meant to post this 2 weeks ago, when Richard would have been touring the UK, to wish him a speedy recovery with one of my favorite Carpenters recordings, but then I felt too embarrassed to go ahead with it... 🐔

Now I'm thinking, what the heck, I'm still wishing Richard lots and lots of good and sunny health with the title of this song, looking forward to the day that Richard is strong enough again to maybe treat us to some more piano recordings, maybe some jazz stuff even 🥰

And by no means am I a singer nor a musician (as you can hear), so yes, you may laugh 😋 Or better yet, sing along! 😁 (that is, if you can hear it, it turned out to be softer than I expected 🙃)





I actually had been thinking of bringing my uke along to the first date (in Leeds), and perhaps have a little sing-a-long, since I do know how to strum along to 2 or 3 Carpenters songs. I definitely would have had @newvillefan lead us through it, since you have much more power in your voice than I do, Stephen 😎 (I still have fun memories singing along at the pub quiz in London with so many Carpenters fans back in June 2019, remember that? )
