Why does Japan always get the great releases :?: Like the Anniversary Box Sets, Treasures, Anthology, As Time Goes By, and the still in print Singles 1969-1973, and nameless others. And plus the Japanese CDs sound so much better. Why :?:

Basically since A&M ceased to be an independent record company under Universal in particular -key releases and special projects are down to local market offices

Since Universal / A&M Japan is very interested in catalog re-issues and special releases , many Carpenters sets are issued there and if Universal in USA , UK , Europe etc are not behind key artists -these Japanese releases remain imports only :o

Actually interesting to note that since Richard's contractual dispute over As Time Goes By -Universal USA have issued most worldwide releases FIRST in USA -for example Essential Collection , Carpenters Perform Carpenter etc :o

New 2CD 35th Anniversary collection is out first in USA and should Richard finally complete his long -in -progress Christmas album -this should be released in USA late October 2004 before Japan / UK etc.

Japan has always released annual Carpenters compilations , some Box Sets and other limited editions -and we collectors snap these issues up ASAP....so Universal / A&M keep earning huge profits on Carpenters releases ..... :!:
