Windows Media Player Issues

Does anyone else have this issue with the Windows Media Player?

It seems anytime I use the Player it seems to slow down my computer tremendously. I've searched for updates to see if that's a problem but haven't found anything. If I reboot, my computer goes back to the speed it originally was. There's not a problem with the player itself, mind you. I can play any videos that get e-mailed to me, and have no problem playing any kind of mp3s or CDs or anything else. I thought of trying something else to try but I absolutely hate Quicktime. It's just that the slowdown on my computer gets irritating. Any thoughts?

Which version are you using? Perhaps you need an upgrade?

Weird. I use Media Player much of the time too, have the latest version, but it doesn't hog up the machine too much. My worst resource hog is when I print anything with the parallel printer.

It's probably a setting somewhere that tells the system how much resources are allocated to which job. Might be in the dreaded Registry.
