Suppose there are a CD collection series running named "Gifts" with the following approach: the artists and songs sorted at every one of the CD's are selected to be listened by the audience of ANOTHER artist. Like "Gifts: for ABBA fans", 16 tracks from various artists collected to amuse the average ABBA fan, "Gifts: for Fleetwood Mac fans", 16 tracks from various artists collected to amuse the average Fleetwood Mac fan and so on. The one responsible for putting together each CD has to sit and consider what kind of a collection would set for the appreciaton of the average ABBA listener, the average Fleetwood Mac listener, etc, whether those songs had been hits or not hits for the artists who released them, singles or album cuts, beloved gems or obscure releasings, whatever. Of course it would be more fun to have more of less heard stuff but it would up to the track picker and I thought 16 songs to fit 80 minutes of music, there could be more or less of them as well.
What would you "Gifts: for Carpenters fans" CD be like? I expect lots of ABBA, Manilow, Bee Gees to be picked upon (one song from each) however with (+-) 16 tracks we could have some very nice collections. Perhaps some Kate Bush, Kim Carnes, Spandau Ballet, Lykke Li sequenced it?
