Having played on over 5,000 records, film scores and TV jingles, drummer Hal Blaine talks with us about his life growing up in Massachusetts, later relocating to California. After becoming an actor, he found his true calling as a drummer with Hollywood's The Wrecking Crew, eventually being dubbed one of the "most recorded musicians in history".
About a week ago, I had the opportunity to interview Hal for our radio show in Palm Springs. In parts 1 and 2, we discuss his life and career working with hundreds of artists and producers. In part 3, we are joined by friend and fellow Wrecking Crew member, bassist Joe Osborn, devoting much of that interview to their work with Carpenters. The show airs every Monday night at 5:30 on 91.7 FM, and the subsequent podcast segments will be available via iTunes as well.
