"Mama" Cass Elliott honored posthumously with a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (finally) a couple of days ago. Richard provided a short tribute (read by John Sebastian). He's probably wondering what took so long to honor her. Tributes start at about 12:50 mark.
I wonder if Richard ever met Cass. I know Bettis told the story of them using her equipment in their very early days of gigging and Cass being in the club one night.
I love both ladies and though at first you'd think them different in many ways they seemed alike and I'm sure they'd have had a blast together.
Cass Elliot really never got the recognition that she deserved and she passed way too young. I am glad she got a star but she should also be in the Rock and Roll Hall as a solo artist. Back before John Denver got his star, it took a very long time for him to be approved by whatever governing board makes the determination. Some people I guess they do not see as true entertainers. It is also a bidg cost for the star and Denver's fan base took a long time to come up with the money as well.
