I still don't have BS.

Can we watch "Bacharach/David Medley" with "Any Day Now" and "Baby It's You"? Is the medley from TV Tokyo 1972? Or Live at Las Vegas or another? (The previous-unseen-in-Japan video that NHK page says, is this?)

The program will start at 9:00 pm Friday(Japan Standard Time is GMT + 9 hours, I think).

The personality/presenter(?) is a singer/drummer, Hiro Tsunoda.
I have seen him singing lead, playing the drums in a video. The drums set was Ludwig and he set 4 tom toms like Karen plus 2 smaller toms above.
Don't you send request, asking something about Karen's drums?

The program will repeat on Sunday.

I'm back online.

Richard played "I Need To Be In Love"/"Rainy Days And Mondays",
Mindi sang "Little Altar Boy",
Richard played "Yesterday Once More" in live.

The performance was great!! Mindi used mic with cable/code(?) like Karen.

About 25 songs and interview in 2 hours.

I sent request for "Bacharach Medley" with "Any Day Now". If it would have aired, it must be live in Australia 1972. I'm very sorry.

I sent request for "For All We Know", Karen at drums
and "Yesterday Once More Medley", Live in Holland 1974 among others.
Both aired!!

Other new to NHK, probably, is Live in Australia 1972.
"Ticket To Ride" and "Help".

Oversea media reports that Richard will release his solo album and Christmas album. Some others mentioned re-release of Christmas album this year.
In this program Richard was asked about Christmas album. Writing and arrangement were done. Are recording? (I cannot get his words, sounds like they are going to record.)
Where have other vocalists which were mentioned before gone?

Hiro Tsunoda and music critic talked about Karen's 'Perfect Rhythm' like Perfect Pitch.

I'd like Richard to talk about Karen's perfect rhythm on the re-recording of the first half of "Yesterday Once More" and sent request. They didn't ask Richard, but Tsunoda mentioned this more in detail than the interview with Jo Osborn that I have read. Or I wonder if he was talking about another song. He didn't mentioned what song he was talking about. Has anyone heard/read this?

They performed in NHK studio live. You said it would be Mindi's first televised performance.

Carpenters (Karen and Richard) did not perform Little Altar Boy at the CSULB Christmas 1978 concert at the Terrace theater. I was there.

Thanks for posting this, Chris. Too bad the one with Mindi singing isn't on there, too! Very nice to hear Richard play solo.

Very touching to watch that performance... just because it's Richard and his daughter. What an amazing thing for him as a father, I am sure. Her voice is VERY different from Karen's in that she is more of a belter and less of a microphone singer. When you think about it though, it sounds more like Karen's college recordings ("And When I Die" and "Crescent Noon"). I think Mindi could have a future in musical theater, for certain. Not sure she will be the next pop sensation, but how awesome to hear/see a Carpenter kid perform and bow with Richard.

Oh, Sakura!! Thank you, thank you! This was really an amazing thing to have seen. We all have to remember that this young lady is only in high school! She could very well have quite a future ahead of her. And Richard is so very proud of her and rightly so!

Great Video! Thank you. yes, I have seen Mindi perform several times at the Carpenter center, and she really excels in musical theater numbers. She has a great character voice.

hello everyone...I haven't been on here in AGES! Good to be back.

I agree, Mindi's voice does lend itself to stage/character voice. I guess I knew it wouldn't sound like Karen's (whose could), but I had hoped that it might closer resemble.... It is not really a voice for overdubbing, etc.

I am looking forward to the new Christmas CD, whenever it comes about....

You guys are lucky!! Why did audience laugh at the ceremony?

BS2 program just started to repeat.

Sakura

Not sure if you are referring to the 1978 CSULB concert or not.
I don't remember the audiece laughing at the concert...but I do remember my Mom gasping and commenting how thin Karen was when she entered the stage singing, "Sleep Well Little Children". And I remember how happy I was to see Karen & Richard live! It remains a highlight of my life.
