Thanks Dan! Then I would say "Panama" (during the vibe solo at the end) for the vibraslap.

Another semi-mystery for me is claves. I don't know what it looks like, but we had a Hammond organ at home with a claves sound built in, and I'm sure I've heard that sound on TJB tunes but can't bring any to mind at the moment.

Also, it's not a xylophone on Magic Trumpet and Talk To The Animals. It's just a plain old marimba with Julius using mallets with tiny wooden tips.

Not only is there a banjo in Mame, it’s also a word in the lyrics.

You've got the banjoes strummin'
And plunkin' out a tune to beat the band

Mike

I THINK there is a guiro featured in a couple of songs from BOTB...namely CABARET and PANAMA. As I understand, a guiro is a gourd that's been hollowed out and has serrations carved into the inside(which must be a trick...), and is played with a stick to form a "scraping" sound. There is definitely a scraping sound in the left channel of my stereo every 4 bars or so on each verse. And, there's a scraping sound at the very end of PANAMA, as the song fades out.

Dan

MONDAY MONDAY has sleighbells, too; also a tambourine: also, there's a xylophone in I'M GETTING SENTIMENTAL OVER YOU, a baritone sax in LOLLIPOPS AND ROSES, chimes in EL PRESIDENTE, and a banjo in PLUCKY.
