Dear forum members,

I see and hear a strong connection between the DUDE 1981 A&M album by Quincy Jones and Sergio Mendes homecoming’ album on A&M in 1983;

1.The opening songs, Ai No Corrida and Voodoo has the same rhythmic groove as song structure.
And the same horn section ( Jerry Hey, Bill Reichenbach, Kim Hutchcroft and Ernie Watts; the same soloist, sax studio great Ernie Watts.
And most of al the particularly in the chant/mouth percussion treatment in the break of Ai No Corrida by Paulinho Da Costa and by Sebastioão Neto on Voodoo.

2. The songs; JUST ONCE and NEVER GONNA LET YOU GO both were written by the husband/wife team Cythia Mann and Barry Weill and introducing for the first time on both records the great keyboard studio extraordinaire player mr. ROBBIE BUCHANAN. Robbie handles on both songs his impeccable magic on the keys. And the introduction of two soulful male singers James Ingram and Joe Pizullo (along with Liza Miller).

3.Both album were mixed by one of the greatest recording engineers
in the world: the Sonic Maestro Par Excellence; Mr. BRUCE SWEDIEN.
The DUDE album was also recorded with help from others by BRUCE SWEDIEN.

4.Both albums has their simular concept structure:
Strong versatile song choice, lush arrangments and strong musician performances and both on A&M!

All the best,
Aqua do Brasil
