I notice that Sergio used a different band for his Ottawa shows last Summer. Interesting, considering the fact that he's played with the same band for well over ten years now. Of his usual band, only Bill Brendle, Kevin Winard and Meio Noite were present. Dawn Bishop and Jessica Taylor provided the vocals. Two (new and/or different) bassists and a new guitarist rounded out the group. Perhaps they were local musicians? I know Sergio enjoys playing with locals on occasion.
I point this out because he usually reorganizes the band prior to recording a new project. Also, I know that Bill Brendle and Hussein Jiffry have bands of their own (as well as performing together with a different band).
Interesting to note that Sergio & Brasil 2003, as appeared in Pittsburgh, were his usual bunch of musicians. And, from what I understand, the Blue Note shows will also feature the same band.
Hmmm...makes me wonder if, indeed, we are headed for a new project after all?
