It was great hearing Maria Hinojosa interviewing Sergio on "Latino USA" (NPR) today on the way home. I think the interview actually dates from 2008, but it was new to me. Sergio talked about his roots in Brasilian music, his discovery of jazz and bossa nova, his first trip to the US to play Carnegie Hall and jamming with Cannonball Adderley, putting together Brasil '65 and '66 and finding Lani, Herb and Jerry signing him to A&M and the group really taking off big-time, and so on . . . although the conversation skipped over most of the years after Brasil '66 up to the present. But lots of good music in a good interview.
