I do know that the mk2 has attached rca cables and would need a preamp for sure. I will be connecting it to my home theater receiver the sony str dh790 which has no preamp in it. What other models of the 1200 do you know of that are at a good price.I would go with the Technics as long as it is in good running order--the Mk. 2 is a bit older by now, but if properly maintained and repaired, those 1200s were workhorses.
I never was a fan of the U-Turn--it seemed cheaply made. Certainly not as sturdy as the 1200.
It does not have a phono input. I was going to buy a preamp regardless if the turntable has one. How do i go about connecting it to my receiver. Also any preamp recommendations? If your home theater receiver does not have a phono input, you will need the preamp. (It amplifies the low-level signal and applies the needed RIAA equalization.) The next Fluance model up is $50 more but does not come with a preamp.
The Denon isn't too impressive--kind of flimsy. Older Denon turntables (from the 1980s) were highly sought after, though. (And they are not inexpensive!)
