Looks like Vanessa Williams is covering Merry Christmas Darling on her new CD due out October 12 titled Silver and Gold. It is another one of her Christmas CDs to go along with the 20th Century Masters.

Let's hope this version is great also.

Probably will be; I can totally hear her singing that one; it's right up her alley, I think. [Although there's no topping the original, of course! ]

The new Christmas album will be through Atlantic/Lava with plenty of exposure via QVC and she will follow up that holiday themed album with a '70s love song album for Valentine's Day.That 20th Century Xmas album is a remastered version of her 1996 Mercury album STAR BRIGHT. Strange that in past years Universal would put its Christmas product that was at least a year old into the Special Products division and those titles could be had dirt cheap(5-6 bucks). A good example of this pricing structure was Jimmy Buffett's sole Christmas album,CHRISTMAS ISLAND,which listed for 15.98 or so in 1996 and was available for 5.99 in 1997(Amazon carries this nowadays for 7.98).
