Dear Forum members,

You all aware of the Brasil ’65 Capitol recording with Sergio on piano, Wanda Sá vocals, Sebastião Neto on bass, Chico Batera on drums and Rosinha da Valenca on guitar and as studio guest musician on alto sax and flute, the great Bud Shank.

But there’s another Capitol recording with the same group, the solo recording SOFTLY (Capitol records) from Wanda Sá, with full orchestra arranged by Jack Marshall.
One track from this album (Corcovado, sung in English by Wanda) is added as a bonus track on the CD reissue WANDA VAGAMENTE from the highly recommended original 1964 album release.

The record contains amongst others Bossa Nova Classics as Vivo sonhando, Until Paisagem by Jobim, Também Quem Mandou by Carlos Lyra E vem o sol by Marcos Valle, Tristeza de nôs dois by Durval Ferreira.

Eumir Deodato, the Bossa Nova legend guitarist/composer Roberto Menescal, bassist Sergio Barroso, pianist Luiz Carlos Vinhas, Percussion legend and studio star at the time: Dom Um Romao amongst others played on this album

A quote from the album cover;

‘Wanda’s voice says more than a song.
Wanda comes slowly. But sticks to us.’

–Roberto Boscoli
( composer, producer and the first husband from Elis Regina)

All the best,
Aqua do Brasil

An old post from our friend Aqua, but I have an update. Sometime in August of 2008, DRG Records will release a combo two-fer disc with both of the above albums on the same disc:
