GOD SAVE THE QUEENS

GOD SAVE THE QUEENS is Sandy Baron's third comedy album. Once again he's shooting 'straight' from the hip with a satirical look at an important social issue. His past albums dealt with black-white relations (THE RACE RACE) and student-teacher misunderstandings (I NEVER LET SCHOOL INTERFERE WITH MY EDUCATION).

Sandy spends a good deal of time standing up for what he believes. As a monologist he travels the college and concert circuit (playing 50 to 100 campuses a year), appearing with such leading talents as Neil Diamond, The Fifth Dimension, Lou Rawls, Nancy Wilson and Anthony Newley, and is also a major attraction in top night clubs throughout the U.S. and Canada, including New York's "Upstairs and Downstairs" and "The Copacabana," Chicago's "Mister Kelly's," "Harrah's" in Reno, "King's Castle" in Lake Tahoe, "The Latin Casino" in Cherry Hill NJ and "The Now Grove" in Los Angeles.

Sandy's forte is improvisational comedy, an art he mastered on the New York stage with THE PREMISE and SECOND CITY, appearing nightly with artists like Buck Henry, George Segal, Godfrey Cambridge, Alan Arkin, Renee Taylor and Alan Alda.
On the Broadway stage he appeared with Anthony Quinn and Margaret Leighton in 'Tchin-Tchin', Kirk Douglas in 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest,' Christopher Plummer in 'Arturo Ui,' Henry Fonda in 'Generation' and is currently starring as Lenny Bruce in 'Lenny.'

A member of that select circle always welcome on Johnny Carson, Mike Douglas, Merv Griffin, David Frost, Dick Cavett and Steve Allen Shows, Sandy has also co-starred in three television shows -- NBC's Hey Landlord and That Way the Week that Was and RKO General's Della Reece Show.
Moving from television to movies, Sandy appeared in 'Sweet November,' 'If It's Tuesday It Must Be Belgium,' 'The Out-of-Towners' and Peter Bogdonavich's 'Targets.'

As a lyricist Sandy wrote "Natural Man" with Composer Bobby Hebb, which won a Grammy Award for Singer Lou Rawls, and the next Broadway season, a Baron-Hebb score for the musical comedy 'Eskimo,' for which Sandy is also co-authoring the book.
Sandy now calls Sherman Oaks, CA, hom though he was raised in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn. He was married to the poetess Mary Jo Webster-Baron in Nov. 1970 by their close friend, the Rev. James R. McGraw.

Rev. McGraw remains a bachelor by choice. An ordained elder in the United Methodist Church, he served two Brooklyn pastorates before devoting most of his time to writing and editing, including 4 books for Dick Gregory, "Renewal Magazine," "Christianity & Crisis," "American Report" and "The Realist." He lives in NYC and this is his first writing effort for a comedy album. He hopes to prove "Gay" also means laughter and happiness.

This is an A&M Record...? Much like some of the comedy albums on Atlantic; and the stuff on Little David... (Yeah...Ha, Ha...!!)

Like I said: "...One of the most unusual A&M LP sequences since Melvin Van Peebles Brer Soul followed up Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66's Fool On The Hill..." :D
