This album was my first introduction to Arturo Sandoval. He can do it all, from bebop to Latin. Here, former TJB bassist Papito Hernandez assembles a stellar cast to commemorate the late, great Clifford Brown. The playing by everybody is excellent. Papito came up with the idea of having Sandoval overdubbing his horn a la Herb Alpert on a few selections. The craziest example is on "Cherokee", which is played at a ridiculous tempo. Other doubled-up horn arrangements are on "I Get A Kick" and "Caravan". Sandoval plays a gorgeous ballad on "I Remember Clifford" and his own "I Left This Space For You", done on flugelhorn. A strong album, needless to say.
