Carlos Lyra RIP

Here is a classic Bossa written by Lyra and sung by the Founding Father of Bossa Nova Joao Gilberto.

 
Lyra was also an accomplished singer and guitarist, and here he is singing a signature composition at Carnegie Hall in 1962.

 
Here is another Bossa Nova classic with the music written by Carlos Lyra, and a perfect vocal interpretation by Astrud Gilberto and marvelous lyrics by Norman Gimbel. As the saying goes--they just don't make music like this anymore.

 
How well i remember listening to this song from the fall of 1963 written by Carlos Lyra and sung by Eydie Gorme. The term "the late great " certainly applies to both musical artists.
