100,000 new, sealed records found in a basement in Texas:

Record store owner stumbles upon 100,000 sealed records in basement »

Owner of Minnesota’s Mill City Sound record shop, Rob Sheeley has discovered an unprecedented haul of sealed vinyl records in a Texan basement.

Spanning the classics from Prince and Bob Marley to The Ramones and Frank Zappa, the collection of 100,000 virgin discs was the entire inventory of a record store that closed its doors in 1984.

The discovery was made in January and was quite literally a life changing moment. “It took everything I had to keep it together,” Sheeley told Star Tribute.

Within five minutes, he bought the entire stock for close to $100,000.
Very tempting to head out a few days early prior to AXPONA and head up there for some rekkid shopping...

There were only a few peeks at what was in some of those boxes, and I already see half a dozen I want. Two of those albums by the Time (The Time, and What Time Is It?)...I'd love to get new copies of those.

The store seems to be quite the mecca for vinyl in the Minneapolis area. It might be worth the trip to visit that store and others in the area. I haven't been there since 1997, a few months after I opened this forum. :D
