Herb & Taylor Swift

Kudos to Herb for being gracious to her, but there should still be an asterisk involved though....one of her top five albums is a remake of a previous well-known album.

Taylor Swift has 3 more albums to redo, "self-titled" (2006), "1989" (2014) & "Reputation" (2017) & maybe an update on her 6 song EP "Christmas" 2007 CD with bonus tracks (which was a Target store exclusive).

She grew up in the Reading/Allentown corridor of Pennsylvania. Heck her parents might even have attended this concert:

Based on various outfits Taylor wears in her concerts, I'd say Delores has a little more, shall we say, assets than Taylor does.

Fun aside, it needs to be said that the criteria for an album being high in the charts has completely changed from the '60s to now. For one thing, TS has released multiple versions of her latest album, adding songs, remixes and other tid-bits to get fans to cough up for the latest and greatest version. Every time she does that the album gets new chart life. Then there are the remakes of her previous albums, which have known songs to help push them along.

Herb did his thing without the internet, with only one version of each album, and (most importantly) without computers and with only physical sales as opposed to downloads and streams. So to me, his will always be the bigger accomplishment. Taylor Swift is certainly vastly talented, don't get me wrong, and I like a lot of her songs, but she's more of a corporation than a solo artist.

Steve's comment to "stay tuned" is now nearly a year old... Should we still be "staying tuned"???

Almost sounds like "the generation gap redux"... 😄

While I don't much care for her music I LOVE that Herb respects her accomplishment. My 32-year-old daughter made me and my wife watch Swift's concert film, and while I don't necessarily like her music (nor do I hate it -- like most modern music, it's just "there") I can appreciate that everyone has different tastes in music.

In high school while I was enjoying Herb, BMB, Andy Williams and other "parent music"my peers were into Zeppelin, Fought, Frampton, and the Beatles (and the post break-up Beatle acts) which at the time did nothing for me. It'a all a matter of musical taste! And while I may have gotten ridiculed for "being square" at the time (and I ridiculed them for being dopers and potheads), as I've gotten older I've come to respect differences of opinion and embrace those differences now... even if I don't understand them! (Now I just need to learn how to apply that ethic to politics, LoL)

But if HERB did do a collaboartion with Taylor Swift, it would be something that would probably improve my bond with my daughter (not that there's any trouble there).... But would Lani let that happen? She is (after all) Herb's primary collaborator of late. Like the last 25+ years of late!
