I raided Dad's LP collection, and came across an LP I recall hearing back then. Back then, I didn't have much recollection of albums I'd only listened to a few times, but this one is Martin Denny's Primitiva. In a word: this album is "weird"!
What's notable: it's one of the Denny albums featuring Julius Wechter. No photos of the band, but ooooooh, what an album cover! With the spare instrumentation (if you can call percussion, assorted whooping and hollering, and minimal piano and bass "instrumentation"), you really get to hear Julius as the lead instrument on most of the tracks. Can't say the bizarre music bears repeated listening (this, IMHO, is one relic that should have remained in the 50's), but worth hearing only for Julius' contribution.
Provided I have time later, I'll post a scan of the cover.
