During his recent European tour, Neil Diamond did a show in Oberhausen (a city in the West of Germany) in June 2011. Price: 145 Euro! I have never payed more to see a show than this time. It was a fine concert, two hours long without a break. It wasn't sould out, I guess because of the prices.
I saw Neil for the first time in 1989 in Dortmund (then he was 48 years old), for the second time in 1999 in Cologne (58 years). Now he is 70 years old, and it shows. His voice is as great as ever, but the show is slowed down. The energy of the earlier concerts is missing. But that's ok with me, I am 47 years old myself now. Anyway, the ballads were the songs which touched me the most at this concert.
When Neil left the stage, waving at the audience, I was sad, because I guess that was the last time I have seen him live.....
