I done made my reservations at the Blue Note for the Wends. night 10:30 show, table of course! I'm giddy! I thought Serg would never come back to the east coast! I'd go on a Sat. to catch the late night jam session, but I don't feel like dealing with all the tourists on the weekends. But Hey, if we could get an A&M Corner Jam Session going I'll change my reservations!!!!!

Don't get too worked up--my "licks" on sax are 20-years rusty by now, and I'd need a remedial course in manipulating the keyboard with any kind of accuracy! We just need an acoustic bass player (anyone here do that?)--we could at least attempt the small Brazilian jazz trio format. I'd have to practice my Mendes licks on the ivories...and could probably hack the Bud Shank alto solo in "So Nice" if needed. Wouldn't hurt to have a breathy female vocalist to augment a few numbers.

Hi Paula...You are very lucky. Wish I could see Mendes LIVE again. If you have the chance, will you please ask him when he'll have a new cd out? More than six years have gone by and it is about time our great Mendes gave us a GIFT. Don't you think that a LIVE cd would be just great!!!!!
I've bought his latest cd's and I am on cloud nine. LIVE at EXPO 70, PAIS TROPICAL, STILLNESS, and ROOTS. Here in Brazil, they've released Brasil'88, Home Cooking, and The New Brazil'77.
I guess there are only three more to be released in cd format, so we can have the entire collection..... LOVE MUSIC, VINTAGE 74 and MAGIC LADY.
