Hi all,

Is there a place online where I can find a listing of all the tracks by Herb & the TJB that have been released on CD? Not just the ones currently in print, but also the ones that were released and are no longer available commercially. I've been a fan of the TJB music since the first LP, although I haven't really kept up much with CD releases. I have BOTB, Going Places! (Japanese issue), Classics Vol 1., 4-sider, and Greatest Hits Vol II on CD, but I gather that there are also compilations that feature other cuts, such as the Bacharach compilation I recently read about on this forum.

Thanks for your help! :D

Hi Elena,

Here are the TJB songs that have been placed on compilations at one time or another - at least those that I've found. Keep in mind that in addition to this list, ALL tracks from Lonely Bull through SRO, plus The Christmas Album, Beat Of The Brass and The Brass Are Comin' saw official CD release, somewhere in the world.

In no particular order:

Jerusalem - on Solid Brass, CD 3268
Last Tango In Paris - on Foursider, CD 6011
A Banda - on Solid Brass, CD 3268
Zazueira - on Greatest Hits Volume 2, CD 3269
Wade In The Water - on Solid Brass, CD 3268
Casino Royale - on Foursider, CD 6011
Warm - on Foursider, CD 6011
The Maltese Melody - on Solid Brass, CD 3268
Summertime - on Solid Brass, CD 3268
Moon River - on Foursider, CD 6011
The Happening - on A&M Gold Series (Vol 2), 397082-2
Bo-Bo - on Portrait In Music from Rondor, promo release
Without Her - on Foursider, CD 6011
Promises, Promises - on A&M Songs Of Burt Bacharach, POCM-1528

Naturally, some of these appear on several different compilations. In addition to the ones listed, there's Greatest Hits, which covers territory already covered in the first four albums; Classics Volume 1 which gathers several of these with other hits and favorites, various other A&M Gold Series releases in Asia, and even the currently only-one-in-print Definitive Hits has "Casino Royale" to offer.

I could understand why SUMMERTIME and WARM weren't CD'd back in the day, but why in the heck did they skip over NINTH and SOUNDS LIKE? Maybe they weren't mega-sellers either...I wasn't keeping track of sales figures in those days!

Everything up to (and including) Warm went gold. Brass Are Comin' was the first not to go gold. Herb would not hit gold again until Rise... I have no data on "post-Rise" LPs -- it's likely that Keep Your Eye On me may have gone gold as well...
