Trying to locate Jose Soares

I'm a long time friend of Jose - since the days of Bossa3 (1962). Last time we were in touch was in the 80's when he was in Rio and I was in L.A. I lost touch with him over the years and would greatly appreciate it if anyone knows where he is and/or how to contact him - He knows me as Helen "Elena" Azevedo and I am planning a trip to Brazil this year.

Helen, I tried to track down Joao for Janis Hansen several years ago. Either Joao or Jose had had some kind of disease, I want to say hepatitis, and people who knew them had lost track of them in the early 90s. I'll have to search my memory banks to think of who I knew who knew them both and see if I can get any more info--no promises, but I'll at least try for you.

Nobody seems to know where Jose Soares is these days, but Joao Palma is alive and well in Rio de janiero where he's been working extensively with Arnaldo de Souteiro & Ithamara Koorax.
