Until today, I had no idea that Burt Bacharach's song "Something Big" was a theme to a movie. Even the movie was called SOMETHING BIG, and the whole thing is available on YouTube at the moment.
The song in the movie is sung by Mark Lindsay. Movie score is by Marvin Hamlisch.
It appears to be...

We are all pretty much familiar with "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head," "Walk On By," "(They Long To Be) Close To You" and "I Say A Little Prayer," but there are dozens of songs written by the Bacharach/David songwriting team. I'm sure we all have favorites among those lesser known tracks...
Several compilations have a version of the Bacharach/David Medley performed live (for example, "Their Greatest Hits And Finest Performances" - Reader’s Digest). Does anyone know the source of this live performance? Is it by chance from the Carpenters 1971 UK BBC TV special? Thanks
I was just watching "Burt Bacharach's Best" on WPBS. It's part of the "My Music" series and it was covering most of Burt Bacharach's songs with the original artists, including the Carpenters. And as this was part of WPBS's Spring Membership drive, they were also offering for $75 a DVD of the...
Question.... who sings on Burt Bacharach's A&M recording of "The Bell That Couldn't Jingle". There are some who think it maybe The Blossoms with Darlene Love.
From Rumer herself:
"While I am writing my own original material, I have accepted a singing challenge from Warner Music’s East West label (Robert Plant, Bette Midler) to do a Burt Bacharach and Hal David songbook album. Feel free to send me your song suggestions at [email protected]. I am...
Burt Bacharach has a new two CD collection out of his greatest hits called "anyone who had a heart". It features recordings by everyone from Barbra Striesand to Elvis. Yet, no "close to you" or any Carpenters recordings are included. Really? They even use the Issac Hayes version of "I'll...

Any Day Now / Baby It's You
and Make It Easy On Yourself
I just love hearing "Make It Easy On Yourself" as a solo song from the medley and I pasted on to the end of the medley song w/ Baby It's You with the ending from CLOSE TO YOU so it sounds like a true ending to the two songs. Hope...
White House to honor Burt Bacharach and Hal David
May 7th, 2012
Back in October, you may recall, it was announced that Burt Bacharach and Hal David had been selected by the Librarian of Congress to receive the 2012 Gershwin Prize for Popular Music. In conjunction with that award, Bacharach...
This might have been discussed previously, but I was kind of surprised to see Lani's version of Lesley Duncan's "Love Song" on a 4 CD publishing promo of Burt Bacharach's music, the only non-Bacharach tune on the set. The only connection I can find is that the song is currently administered by...

Today is Burt Bacharach Day at A&M Corner! Burt reaches the young age of 39 83 today, and he's still out there keeping busy and making music.
One of his more recent projects is with Irish vocalist Ronan Keating on a set titled When Ronan Met Burt. It is an album of covers of familiar Bacharach...
There have been a couple of zillion versions of "The Look Of Love" over the years, and here at A&M Corner we've delved into a number of songs done in Spanish (and Portuguese), but until today, I've not run across a Spanish version of "The Look Of Love".
I guess I still haven't, at least not...
Here is a really nice NPR Burt Bacharach & Hal David interview on the revival of "Promises, Promises" on Broadway. It appeared on the WHYY show, "Fresh Air" a few days ago.
