I dont know if this has ever been discussed but Out of curiosity my question concerns these Herb Alpert titles on A&M Vinyl Versions whether any of them appeared on the Silver/Tan Label before going out of print and these are the ones I'm wondering about

Most Carpenters fans are aware that Herb Alpert gave Richard the lead sheet for "Close to You" in early 1970.
In his bio of the C's, Ray Coleman indicates that Alpert provided the CTY lead sheet, knowing that Richard was preparing a Bacharach medley for the Carpenters' upcoming appearance with...
In the spirit of Jerry Moss, I’d have him do an album of songs about streets, roads or highways, or activities from such. To wit:
Beautiful Noise
On the Road Again
Street of Dreams
Route 101
Ventura Highway
Carefree Highway
Up Cherry Street
Route 66
Basin Street Blues
Baker Street...
I just watched "Herb Alpert Is..." here:
Herb Alpert Is...
While much of it is the same stories I've heard in so many interviews and such, I heard a few details that I don't remember having heard before. I just wrote some of it - 2 paragraphs or so - into my little biography of Herb Alpert.
After having waited for three years my wife and I finally got to see Herb and Lani and their fabulous band at Ronnie Scott's jazz club in London last night. It was the opening night of six concerts that have been sold out since 2020. I have seen Herb, Lani and the band quite a lot over the...
Does anyone have a screen capture of Herb Alpert's appearance in the 1956 film "The Ten Commandments"?
I've checked out the film and I'm not able to identify him with any degree of certainty.
My aunt gave me "Going Places" and "What Now My Love" on Christmas 1967. Those were my first 2 records ever! My folks gave me my first record player that Christmas too, a GE portable. I was really happy! I definitely had great taste early on!
Hi TJB fans,
Yesterday I found this new interview with Herb and want to share it with you:
https://www.hawaiipublicradio.org/local-news/2022-09-08/herb-alpert-with-hprs-dave-lawrence-on-queen-elizabeth-ii
As Herb said, this was the only time he met the Queen. But there are also pictures on...
Not intended to be all-inclusive, this curated playlist travels a journey through many musical styles on which Herb Alpert has made a cameo appearance. At ~80 minutes, it would just about fit a single CD, or a two-LP set.
Lossless playlist available on Qobuz...
I'm just starting to watch some of the Carpenters documentaries, etc..., on Youtube. In the UK "Nations Favourite Carpenters Song" video, Jerry Moss with Herb Alpert makes the comment: "I might just say that it's sad to say that when she passed away in 1983, (and Herb and I feel this way)...
Yesterday, to my surprise, I found Herb Alpert Is... on Tubi. I had wanted to see it a second time. Unfortunately, there were a million ads, but some documentaries are like novels-new things pop out at you that maybe you weren't paying attention to before. I still prefer the 2010 documentary...
Inspired by Harry's thread, here's an exercise in picking your 12 favorite tunes from the Herb Alpert and TJB catalogs that really bring out the Latin/Mexican vibe. The early TJB dove in deep with the flavor of 1960s Mexico, where Fandango finds Herb in more of a modern Mexico City mood...
That old Canadian/UK compilation from PolyTel that came out on CD in 1991, THE VERY BEST OF HERB ALPERT,
had a folded set of liner notes with a poster on the back. I'd forgotten that I did a scan of that poster years ago, found it today, and did a little clean-up work on the folds, and though...
Since the 70s T.J.B. was short-lived and so stylistically different from the original Tijuana Brass, they fit well (and arguably much better) with the solo recordings. And it will make for an interesting mix with all the different styles.
I'll break with tradition here: since there are so...
Holiday greetings to all on the A&M Corner! I saw a horn player on an episode of The Big Valley yesterday and wanted to ask if anyone has any further information. The episode is "The Way to Kill a Killer", from 1965. There is a portion of the video where you can see the trumpet player's left...
I have prided myself in knowing all most all there is to know when it comes to Herb and the TJB here in this remote northern corner of Europe, so I had a big surprise a few days ago when I discovered an album by the Swedish artist "Lill-Babs" or Barbro Svensson(her real name) from 1967 that is a...
