In the early '80s the post punk goth rock band Bauhaus released two albums on A&M, 'THE SKY'S GONE OUT' and 'BURNING FROM THE INSIDE.' When they disbanded two members formed Tones on Tail and later Love and Rockets, whose music was relatively more accessible.

Kevin Haskins (drums) and Daniel Ash (vocals, guitar, sax) went for a long hiatus before working together again. Now they're touring as 'Poptone' with Haskins' daughter, Diva, playing bass. The sets are a retrospective of the former bands' material with other tunes from upcoming projects.

Last Sunday I caught their show at the 20th Century Theater in Cincinnati. This was two days before traveling to Nashville for Herb & Lani. The busy travel time was worthwhile, as the Poptone tour was not extending any closer.

While Bauhaus might be obscure to many, Love & Rockets is widely known for its 1989 hit, "So Alive." Enthusiasts for the '80s should catch a Poptone tour stop, particularly since they play intimate venues where relaxation, good refreshments and enjoyable conversation is possible.
