Nice. I don't think Gloria and Karen have 'similar voices' as she said - other than being alto's. But still a nice performance and it's great to see the song still get the recognition it deserves.

...I love hearing Carpenters version whether it be the early 70's vocal lead or the re-recorded version. It is flattering to Carpenters and Mr. Pooler that so many people cover this classic song.

Let me start by saying how much I love Gloria's warmth and intimacy when she sings. However it is a different kind of warmth and intimacy (if that makes any sense.) And although the Today Show wouldn't be the right platform, Gloria and Emilio could've done a spanish version (with a more latin-rhythmed base, hinted at during the performance) and turned Merry Christmas Darling into an even more unique, yet still impactful tribute. Especially to tie into the "90 Millas" theme.
As Gloria once said back in the 90's "No one comes close to the projection and warmth on Karen's readings."
