Dear Mendes fans,
Sergio Mendes recorded 6 songs in his recording career with the word LIFE
waved into a title, and here are my favourite ones:
1) LIFE goes on, from Brasil 88 (1978)
2) RighteousLIFE, from Stillness (1970)
3) NightLIFE , from Arara (1989)
4) LIFE, from Sergio Mendes & The New Brasil 77 (1977)
5) LIFE in the movies, from Sergio Mendes (1983)
6) RealLIFE, from Confetti (1984)
On top (nr.1) the wonderful LIFE GOES ON with the nice woodwinds/horns/strings interlude and broad landscape keyboards treatment by Sergio and the impeccable Carol Jeanne Rogers on vocals.
On the bottom (nr.6) REAL LIFE a marketing-oriented song in my opionion a Robbie Buchanan-production/arrangment . At the time it had a certain hit-potention but not a Sergio Mendes touch at all. After all he didn’t palyed on the song. By the way Robbie buchanan is one hell of a keyboard player/producer and a wonderful person. The combination
Mendes /Buchanan delivered only one hit song; NEVER GONNA LET YOU GO.
The four songs in between are ok with some special moments especially LIFE and NIGHTLIFE (nice witty keyboards treatment).
I hope i didn’t missed a LIFE tune.
