Here I am again, making another plug for Melissa Manchester, my other favorite female singer (Homepage ). As I've mentioned, I have had the pleasure of seeing her in concert a few times, starting in 1976 but continuing to 2017. In 2015 and 2017, she held a meet-and-greet after her concerts, so I got to meet her and have a photograph taken with her; she also graciously signed an album or CD! She was absolutely kind and still puts on a great show!
Her self-produced (and crowd-funded) 2015 CD You Gotta Love the Life was a jazz-influenced, critically well-received work. She just released another CD, The Fellas, a bookend to her 1989 Tribute (female standards). Also just released is Through the Eyes of Love: The Complete Arista 7" Singles, a 2 CD set!
Even if all you remember of Melissa is "Midnight Blue," "Don't Cry out Loud," "Through the Eyes of Love," and/or "You Should Hear How She Talks About You," she is indeed a versatile singer, and I am thrilled she is still recording.
