Richard wrote the liner notes for a new Christmas collection from Perry Como. Similar to the work he did on the Spike Jones holiday CD a few years back. Here is the description.

A roaring fire, something warm to wear (probably a cardigan), and the crooning sounds of Perry Como. He has been the comforting recipe for countless Christmas celebrations for generations. Now, for the first time, here are ALL of the holiday- themed recordings Perry made for RCA over 36 years, with liner notes by longtime admirer Richard Carpenter! The first eight tracks hail from the original 78 rpm album Perry Como Sings Merry Christmas Music (1946). Next up is the 1953 album Around the Christmas Tree. Thats disc one; disc two leads off with the 1959 stereo album Seasons Greetings from Perry Como, plus the 1967 singles Christmas Bells and Love Is a Christmas Rose. Then comes the 1968 album The Perry Como Christmas Album, plus the album outtake Some Children See Him, the single release Christmas Dream and Perrys final holiday song from 1982, the appropriately-titled I Wish It Could Be Christmas Forever. 51 tracks!

Perhaps here are some reasons:

15. Its Beginning to Look a Lot Like
16. Christmas

17. The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas to
18. You)

27. There's No Place Like Home for the
28. Holidays

30. There's No Place Like Home for the
31. Holidays

48. There's No Christmas Like a Home
49. Christmas

Nice to see that Richard is remaining active in the music world. I truly wonder if he's done with the Carpenters. It certainly seems that way. I guess we can't blame him, as he's been doing it for so long. I'm grateful for all we've got.
However, ABBA is releasing a vinyl collection of all of their albums. I'd love to see that put together for the Carpenters, too.

This...in spades!

Paul McCartney is also re-releasing "Band On The Run" in Vinyl as well. Vinyl has seen a comeback of sorts lately. Hopefully this will give Richard the inspiration to give ALL the Carpenters studio albums a proper vinyl release in their ORIGINAL mixes, as they were released back then.. Also, for good measure, add "As Time Goes By" and even Karen's solo album in a vinyl release.

It would be great to hear and experience the Carpenters catalog as it was originally intended to be heard, and would provide a worthy swan song to the string of releases we've seen since 1983.
