I was just watching an Austin Powers movie and I recognized a Sergio Mendes song playing in the background. I remember his music from when I was a kid. I think I saw him on The Mike Douglas show a few times (a long time ago). Anyway, are his older tunes available on CD? Where can I get them? Marg

Most of Sergio's earlier Brasil '66 stuff is available as an import. You can go to the Amazon site or try Dusty Groove (www.dustygroove.com). There is one album available - Look Around - which Amazon has on sale for $10.99 right now.

OK, now I'm chasing you around the forum. :D

There are a couple of compilations available...look at somewhere like Amazon for something like these:

Greatest Hits: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000002GCB/amcorne-20

Classics: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000002G93/amcorne-20

Foursider: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000002GKV/amcorne-20

...or if you want a really good compilation that covers about 2/3 of their A&M recordings on a two-CD set, check out this one, The Very Best Of:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000024TH2/amcorne-20

The 10 individual albums are also available, but are imports and tend to be a little pricey.

Hope this helps!

I see Dusty Groove has Equinox on sale for only $12.99 instead of the original $18.99. Seems to me the $12.99 should have been the original price since it was only about 30 minutes in length. Still good stuff, though.

Y'know, I think Equinox was one of those titles affected by UMG's price cut for this quarter. Yes, it should have been midline all along. Nothing against Sergio, but this music has already been recorded...reissues are cheap to produce.
