...hater of whiny, self-serving sensitive tunes...
I could see that.DAN BOLTON said:As for a great cover song...how about Peggy Lee's IS THAT ALL THERE IS? The TJB could have done a lot with that tune...

But, I have an idea for something I think would be right up Herb Alpert's "alley" so to speak, and it came from the TJB heyday and very much carries the sound and "mood" of the time period. If you lived through that era, you may have a feeling for what I mean. Just today, I was watching the James Coburn IN LIKE FLINT movie(and also the OUR MAN FLINT movie which preceded it). I think that the main tracks, especially the one called "Your Zowie Face" from IN LIKE FLINT would have lent themselves very nicely to a Herb Alpert arrangement. Jerry Goldsmith was the composer of those tracks.
When I hear those, I think of what Herb did with "Casino Royale." That was another "period piece," so to speak...
Anyone remember the "FLINT" movies? Kind of corny, but very much characteristic of the time period. The soundtracks also were very "period typical," IMO.
The same, yes.Mike said:Hi Harry, and wasn`t that a big hit for the Bay City Rollers too?
