About a year ago I started compiling cd's after downloading songs that were recorded by the Carpenters or Carpenters originals by other artists, and making my own tribute albums called 'Sing the Carpenters'. In doing my research I came across some gems but also some monsters!
Has anyone esle heard the tribute Carpenters album by Wing, it's murder on the senses! She has a dreadful voice which is best shown by her covers of 'Hurting each other':starting the song so high that by the chorus cats and dogs are driven mad, and really bad timing, and making up her own lyrics on 'Goodbye to love'. It's horrible, but very funny!
But I have found some really nice albums though, Anne Mattila from Finland did a nice album in Finish. There's a great version of Goofus by the Swe-danes, and Barry Manilow has now done quite a few, including Close To You and We've only just begun.
