Ahhh...!!! One of the FIRST A&M/Horizon LP's I ever bought and still have (along with the two Neil Larsens [Jungle Fever and High Gear] and the two Dr. John's [Tango Palace and City Lights])...

I always played my guitar (and EFFECTS) along with it and at the time, I picked up a number of albums guitarist John Tropea played on, along with this one...

I think it's the best album John Mark and Johnny Almond have made, especially with the gaggle of studio musicians, and it's hard to decide which song I'd really consider my favorite...

Easily giving this week's "Jazz AOTW", a perfect FIVE ***** (5)...!!

It's amazing how at first Jon Mark sounds like Michael Franks, but then he starts sounding a bit like Chris Rea. The music is a bit light and airy, save for a couple of funk attempts on "The City" and "Lonely People". There's a lot of similarity on the chorus of "Vivaldi's Song" to John Pisano's "Felicia". It even has some Alpert-esque horn lines from flugelhornist Jerry Hey. This is one of those albums designated for a makeout session with your beloved one with the lights turned down low. Nice but not earth shattering. 3 stars from me.
