Suppossedly "a city" is the central theme here in Tim's attempt at "Urban Jazz" and the concept works fairly well, though you may wanna space out those "repeated listenings"...

Engineer Larry Forkner was nice enough to contribute "Nikki's Waltz", which lasts a good 2 minutes, 24 seconds... Otherwise the compositions seem to be a group effort among Weisberg and his usual cohorts and recorded at A&M...

--Average Effort; ** 2-Stars

A self-described concept album about city life is what this album is about. Light, airy instrumentals (as most of Weisberg's albums are), with several tunes sounding alike. Every once in a while there's a bit of a spark, such as "Street Party", where Weisberg does some of his best playing, and tunes like "Listen To The City" and "The Dealer" show some heart. But most of this album is almost background music with a definite California flair. It won't offend you, but it won't make you wanting more, either. 2 & 1/2 stars.

I heard this back in the good old LP days when we would sample just about everything. I figured this one to be Tim W.'s big pop album due to the cover and the song titles. Not to be, though. It was quickly put into the used-records bin.
