I Know My First Name Is Stephen
Hi all
Not sure if anyone is aware, but Freddie Mercury's 1987 collaborative album 'Barcelona' with Spanish opera singer Monserrat Caballe, has just been re-released...with 80-piece choir replacing the original keyboards and synths that filled the album. This is a treat for Queen and Freddie fans and is the album which his manager Jim Beach said he would have released "had he had he balls to do it at the time" .
If you've heard the original album, the difference is amazing. Here are two clips that summarise the quality of the album. Firstly, this promo film which preceded the album's release this week:
And secondly, something that has been going round in my brain since first hear yesterday. The deluxe set includes three versions of my favourite track of all from the album, so this is my hybrid mix of the three versions of 'How Can I Go On' that are available on the new deluxe set - original duet, new violin version and orchestral version. The music is astounding to listen to.
