I spotted this ad on eBay asking the public's opinion on changing the name of "Brasil '66". As we all know now, it ultimately went to "Brasil '77" but this question wanted to know if it should change to "Brasil '70".
I remember an article (probably from the AP or something similar) when Pais Tropical, the first "Brasil '77" album, came out, in 1971. Sergio stated that he had thought about naming the group for the year of each album "and become like wine, a vintage sound," he said. But he said that Herb Alpert told him, "That would be cute, but it would be confusing." So they settled on the '77. I have a feeling Sergio figured his music career would surely be over and he'd be on to some other adventure by that far-distant future time!
