🔊 Audio Does anyone remember the Audio Technica Sound Burger, or Sony's mini record players?

I remember seeing portable record players like these back in the early 80s. This one I remember specifically, as it appeared in 1983 and was designed as a portable battery-powered unit that could be used on the go. Sound quality? Don't expect any...the record is only supported by the label, and the cartridge is about as low in the AudioTechnica line as you can get. But for times someone may want a portable player, this would probably fit the bill.

It was reintroduced in 2023 and is still available for sale.

Sony sold a similar record player around the same time, the PS-Q7. This one was made more to fit into their "mini system" lineup at the time.

Here is a similar Sony model (PS-Q3, I believe), atop one of their mini systems.

Interesting relics from the past!

I remember seeing those in pics but never saw one in the flesh. I never thought they were a good idea because they'd leave the record susceptible to dust and damage.
