Quite possibly my favorite female new wave punk album. This is one of those where I'm not sure whether to put it in my soundtrack section or with Ms. O'Connor's other albums... Since it's a "single artist" LP I keep it in the "O" section (and my kids can't figure out why it's not in the "H" section, thank you iTunes).

Visconti did an admitrable job producing this and the sax work of Wesley Magoogan (later replacing Saxa in The English Beat) is almost as recognizable as David Sanborn. The movie is actually pretty good, too. One of the earliest punk/new wave dramas (as opposed to "in concert" productions that fairly represented the era). In the movie, Jonathan Pryce (of Something Wicked This Way Comes and Infiniti ad fame) plays the saxaphone player and Phil Daniels (Quadrophenia) plays her promoter/love interest. The film didn't do well in the USA but garnered critical praise in the UK.
