I have a question. I just joined this group because I am trying to replace a wedding present that was lost in a fire. We were given "From the Top" and it has become a favorite of my husband and I. We lost most of our CD's in a fire and I am now trying to replace this set even though it is my husband who collects. I want this to be a gift to him. I tried to do a search but came up with nothing. The only thing I know for sure is that it was a A&M release. Can anyone help me find this set and Can you tell me what I might be expected to pay for it.

Thanks so much
Rhyan

Try all the online retailers also try your local record stores where you live & also if they have any record dealers locally check them out too. I remember not too long ago, walking into a circuit city & seeing this box set, it was the smaller version, marked down in price. I also remember a year or so seeing it at Barnes & Noble in the music dept, so don't overlook these places.

Ebay is another place, saw one there not too long ago. Sorry to hear about the fire & hope you find it soon.

This has been replaced in the catalog by the "Essential Collection," a quite-similar set (but with more songs). If you're bound and determined to get FROM THE TOP, there is a still-sealed copy available right now on gemm.com for $59.99.

Just go there and search for it by title, or search on the GML #, GML588181878.

Good luck!

Rhyan,

Sorry to hear that you lost your CD's in a fire. Hope you feel better now.

"From the top" was re-released in 2001 Japan, 1991 U.S. printed version + Japanese booklet(which contains lyrics). Colour of song titles except "from the top" on box is deeper than the U.S. narrow book-shaped version(1991).

"from the top"(Japanese release) is available on Jpophelp.

If you type Carpenters from the top in search box, you will go to from the top page.

There are actually quite a few copies listed on Amazon right now, too--many are used, but a few might be sealed:

There are still three new copies available from Amazon's marketplace sellers, seven used copies, and apparently CDNow (which is part of the BMG Music Club now) lists it also for just under $40. For CDNow, you have to join their club and buy one additional CD during the year. Good thing is, they honor Amazon's free shipping for orders over $25, and if you bought a second title right away, you could, in effect, cancel your membership after you receive your order.
