Just set up my own profile a few weeks ago on MySpace, and I'm having a ball!

Wondering how many of us are there, and wouldn't it be logical to take inventory and add each other as "friends"?
I was skeptical about the whole thing until a (much younger) friend encouraged me to come aboard.

Glad I did now.
My very first 'comment' came from none other than A&M Artist Evie Sands.
An espcially nice comment on the profile, plus additional ones on the photos, came today from the widow of Tommy Boyce.

I'm also delighted about how easy it is to add photos --- I'm up to 86 -- and the possibilty of sharing these with more people than was possible beforehand.

Please check out my page:

I'll predict it will become addictive but rewarding as well.

PS: Please add me!

I've been on it for a while, but it keeps turning into another spam site on the e-mails. I have been contacted by some old high school friends and some musicians, but I also get a lot of crap messages as well. I don't have a lot on mine, but it's at http://www.myspace.com/jazzbill if anyone's interested.

Those spam comments can be easily deleted, and I try to do this regularly.
Sometimes friend addition requests are just spammers.
Here's a way to tell:

It's usually a young woman (age 25 or less) with a 3-item profile (single, Scorpio, don't want kids). Nice eye candy but nothing of substance. If you click on 'my pics' sometimes you'll see some soft-core porn.

All you gotta do is hit the 'deny' button. Or ... like I said ... enjoy the eye candy.

My daughter set up a page for me but I've never done anything except look at what she did after she told me she'd done it. Yep, it's got my big ugly Navy Chief mug on it and one of my many regular quotations. Beyond that there's nothing there. I do get a lot of friend requests (mostly from her and her friends), but like I said, I rarely go there.

Just wanted you to know I'm continuing to have a blast at MySpace. The nicest surprises are the friend requests that come out of nowhere (once you weed out the spam).

Last week I was sought out by Singer Kathy Mattea, who performed with the Knoxville Symphony two years ago, and Patrick (Stephenhero) of the '90s A&M band Kitchens of Distinction. As a token of gratutude for the visits/additions, I put a Kitchens' tune on my profile music.

As I said, great fun!

When I get my next CD done, "Superhero" I'm going to start working the site.

I taught fourth grade a few years ago and a former student has a My Space site. Her mom just gave me a CD of her music.

This girl is still a minor, don't you think that she or her mother should be posting the link to her Myspace page??You are out of line!!

MySpace is public site. There's nothing wrong with posting any link to any page on it, especially if it's done with the best of intentions as Jay did here.

I'm quite certain that it was done w/ appropriate adult supervision... And I don't think there is anything at her site that would warrant entertaining the idea of any of the typical misgivings... :neutral:inkshield:

Please refrain from further personal attacks.

I've added the only two decent photos I got from the Sergio Mendes/Nashville event to page 8 of "my pics" at the MySpace site. Wanted to export them to the 'Look Around' forum review thread here but couldn't figure out how to do it.

If one of you can that would be great. Meanwhile check them out, along with some shots from the Brian Auger show and others page 7 and previous:

Thanks,
JB

I'd help, but with kids in the house, I have myspace.com blocked in the router.

If you'd like, e-mail the pics to me and I can put them in our Gallery here, which can be linked into a forum post. If you don't have my address, I'll PM it.
