J & K - Stonebone

Continue to be a physical media (CDs) guy myself.

have tons of CDs and will probably spend my "stimulus" check on a few box sets and new tubes for my headphone amp.

I have ripped most, if not all of my music, into flac files for listening in the study through my headphone amp.

Gotta admit, I still enjoy tearing the shrink off a new release and holding the product in my hands.

Unfortunately, got rid of my copies of "Betwixt and Between" and "Isreal" many years ago , so no chance for needledrops (+ no turntable as well).

I do regret not buying all of the AM+ reissues back in the early 80s--I found a used Israel a few years ago, so I'm glad I got ahold of one.

Creed Taylor (who I interviewed on a talk show at WSB AM Atlanta via telephone in 1978) was apparently a difficult bloke to work with. Bob James told me he sued to gain ownership of his CTI masters and won. It left him embittered and is the reason he owns all his stuff via Tappan Zee Records. Unfortunately, I forgot to ask him about Stonebone, but Doug Payne's website has the rundown of all eight cuts in the Stonebone sessions. (P.S. Need to update my homemade avatar to the real thing. It arrives in my mailbox next week.)

Mine will jump a little once I rip the remaining CDs I haven't gotten to yet. They were really low priority since I rarely listened to them. But I've found that having music on a server, it is way easier to queue up a random track I may want to listen to that I haven't heard in years, or just randomly search through the music and play something that catches my eye. I also have a lot of LPs and especially 12" singles I want to digitize, partly as a backup in case they are lost/damaged, but also to be able to play them on other systems in the house. To save a ton of work, though, I'm waiting to get one of those SweetVinyl SugarCube units that will clean up all the noise. (I've yet to hear computer software that removes random pops and clicks without causing audible side effects, aside from hand-editing them out.)

I just took a look at my Target order of the STONEBONE LP. They're saying delivery next week and that the order has processed. We'll see if anything shows up.

I was going to order from Target but couldn't find anything else to make the $35 minimum for free shipping. (I planned on buying two copies though.) After all, they're out of TP and hand sanitizer like everyone else. 😁 I may go ahead and look again and place that order. I think they probably already have them in stock (as I bet many record stores do), but they know nothing about RSD and will ship them regardless.

While my order has a note that it's being prepared for shipment, I took note of a button that said "Re-order". When I click that, it says that the item is not available.

So we'll see. This may just be a case of an item that was supposed to be in and they didn't get it, but the computer says it's preparing for shipment. Or, they really do have one or two and are going to honor those orders. Stay tuned.

Yeah, it's no longer on the site from my end either. I would order from Dearborn Music but their price is way too much, especially since I want two of them.

Got an email today that says it's been pushed out one more day! It's now estimated at April 17. I sincerely doubt it.
