This record is even more soul-oriented than his prior Kudu date (Breakout). The horns remind me more of the Stax sound, although there are still some Creed Taylor touches in the production. The song selection here isn't as interesting as it was on his prior album.

Definitely moving further into the early '70s. The music is losing the more nimble late '60s feel. Still a good record and the horn charts a fun to hear.
