Karen's voice - false alarm

On the radio we're currently running a spot for Littman Jewelers, where a female vocalist starts the commercial with the line "For all the..."

The pitch and inflection sounds EXACTLY like the start of Carpenters' "Christmas Waltz" with Karen singing, "Frosted windowpanes..."

Naturally, after a couple of syllables, these two sound nothing alike, but that first "FR" sounds just like Karen. It's quite a disappointment everytime I hear it!

Last Christmas and the Christmas before, there were commercials on television for Overstock.com featuring a woman with several guys in a snowy scene. The lead singer was a woman who sang the song to the tune of Jingle Bells, and when she sang," Overstock dot com" (to the tune of "dashing through the snow') she sounded amazingly like Karen... I always stopped what I was doing to watch and listen. I have no idea who she was, but I always wondered what she'd sound like singing Carpenter songs...
