In a few minutes we a leaving to see the Corr's in concert! My excitement is building! I'll send a review sometimes after the concert.
The only downer is Caroline won't be there. Tim

Have a great time Timothy. My excitement is building as well for the concert on Saturday in Boston.

Yesterday they were in New York and stopped by their favorite station up there, WPLJ. Fiddling around with TV antennas, I managed to pick up their in-studio performances and interviews. They did "Breathless", "Angel", and "Summer Sunshine".

It's not quite the same with Caroline missing, but 3/4 of The Corrs is better than no Corrs at all.

Enjoy - we'll compare notes when I get back.

Yes, please post all the details, including the set list, I look forward to reading them here. Since I have never seen them live & doesn't look like I will see them any time soon. This will be the next best thing.

There are pictures on the official Corrs website of the concert that Timothy saw in Virginia:

We're headed out for our weekend in Boston tomorrow that will include the Corrs concert on Saturday evening.

After realizing that my company's station in Boston was doing a promotion with The Corrs, I managed to use some connections to get into the sound check before the show, too. Should be a blast.

Had a GREAT time at the Corr's concert!! My only response was WOW!!!
They are terrific! A big crowd on hand - I would estimate between 8,000 -10,000. We had great seats 20 rows back in the middle. They would not allow picture taking however - Harry, thanks for the link to the pics of our concert. I bought a giant poster - which I'll have framed - only$10 and a program $20. Wolftrap is a great venue. Lots of people on the lawn but they couldn't see much but heard perfectly. The traffic getting into park was horrible though and driving home was a long trip - we got home at 3:30am this morning but I'm so glad we went. My wife and teen daughter loved the concert as well. Harry you asked about the songs they sang but I really didn't keep track - I would guess they sang 15 songs or so. "Angel" got a big response, as did "Runaway".The instrumental songs got everyone on their feet clapping everytime! "Breathless" got the biggest repsonse of the night. They had the crowd in the palm of their hand the whole concert. Many times we were on our feet clapping to the music - for the encore they did "breathless" and an instrumental. "No Frontiers" was sung solo by Sharon - she has a nice voice and did a great job. What an exciting night - certaionly was the highlight of my summer! Chris you've got to see them. I'll look forward to seeing them again. They said they hoped to come back to tour america again. The opening act was ok but not that exciting - Jesse Harris. Well got to get some sleep! Tim.

Well, it kept on getting better and better until it really couldn't get much better...

The story:
With some email contact with a fellow Greater Media employee who works promotions for one of our Boston stations, I got confirmation that indeed I and my wife would be admitted to the Corrs' sound check. This was to occur somewhere around 4 PM, before the actual concert at 8 PM.

We met up with him and the other fans who'd won these sound check passes at about 3:45 PM. It was oppressively hot in Boston yesterday with temps up around 90 and a humidity level to match. Conversing with like-minded Corrs fans is always a treat, especially after dealing with the run-of-the-mill folks out there who think you're talking about beer.

As part of this contest package, each winner also got two seats to the concert. I'd already bought mine months ago, but Rob the promotions guy said that these seats might be better. Sure enough, we got upgraded from row 20 to row 5 - not too shabby, even if I did end up buying tickets that never really got used.

After a little delay - the Corrs arrived a bit late for the sound check - something about bad traffic, (hard to believe that one in Boston [sarcasm off]) we were finally escorted into the outdoor venue. We could hear a couple of the earlier sound check songs from outside the gate. They did "Summer Sunshine" and "Angel" while we were outside, and then about four or five other songs once we were escorted in, including some snippets of other songs. It was a real treat to see the group 'at work', getting everything just right. Sometimes we audience types can take that kind of stuff for granted, but they were out there really trying to get everything just so for the concert. And again, it was an outdoor venue, and the heat was nearly unbearable for those of us just sitting. I can only imagine what it's like up there on the stage playing and singing.

After the sound check, we were told that we'd be able to have our pictures taken with the group. Unfortunately I obeyed the rules that said 'No Cameras', and will have to rely on the kindness of others to actually get copies of them. But I have every confidence that these people will come through, after all, they're hard-corr fans too.

Later, we fans broke up to go our separate ways until the concert that evening. Since our hotel wasn't real close by (especially on such a hot day), we stayed in the area and dined at a fabulous restaurant right there on the harbor called Jimmy's. They had great food, and it was all nice and slow so we killed the time until the concert rather nicely.

As we walked up to the restaurant, my wife said, "Oh, by the way, we've gotten even better seats than row 5." "What?” said I? She then informed me that while we were standing outside after the sound check, she was thanking Rob the promotions guy, and he asked if we wanted front-row center seats. Apparently, whoever won those didn't show up to claim them, so we got them! I just knew this night was going to be something special.

So now I had TWO sets of tickets that would go unused. I managed to find someone I 'knew' from the Internet community to give the row 5 tickets to, so at least they didn't go to waste.

Sophie B. Hawkins was the opening act. She had a hit back in 1994-95 with the song "As I Lay Me Down" and did a commendable job opening up the concert. Though I like that particular hit of hers, overall she comes across on stage as more of a latter-day Janis Joplin-type. When she tames her act a bit, she can sound sweet like in her hit, but when she lets loose, you can hear the Janis influence in her.

The Corrs took to the stage (yes, that stage a few feet in front of me!) at about 9:15 and gave it their all as they put those of us in the FleetBoston Pavilion under their spell. The crowd was enthusiastic and the Corrs responded with their genuine gratitude. This reminds me of just how nice these Corrs are: during the soundcheck, before we came in, they’d do a song or snippet of a song and move on. Once we were seated observing them and they finished a song, we'd applaud and then THEY made a special point to thank us for the applause, even though it was just a sound check.

The program contained 21 songs and an intro:

I'd seen The Corrs perform three other times live. The first time was a four-song set at The Today Show back in September of 2000, then two concerts in Australia in October of 2001. The Today Show we were right alongside the stage and got to interact a bit with the group. In Sydney, we sat about 20 rows back on the floor of a giant indoor arena, and in Melbourne our seats were high up in another giant arena, so there was no chance of any interaction with the group.

Needless to say, being front row center is unlike any of these. Here I was actually making eye-contact with Andrea as she performed. I could tell that she was reacting to my own reactions, and the whole thing was surreal, and something I'll not soon forget.

Following the concert I tried my darndest to get Andrea's tin whistle. The group had left the stage, but the roadies were breaking the setup down and give the 'goodies' to the faithful fans who've moved to the front. I managed to get one of Jim's guitar picks, with a nice Corrs logo on it, and a copy of the set list that was used on stage. I came so close to getting the tin whistle, but my competition was a cute 15-year old girl and the roadie gave it to her instead. Since I know who she is (from the Internet community) I didn't feel so bad, and I was still on such a high that nothing really bothered me!

As with the other concerts on the tour, some digital pictures of the event are up on the Corrs' official website. http://www.thecorrswebsite.com/news/aug04/aug29.htm

My arms are visible behind Jim's right wrist in the first picture. I'm wearing a black shirt, next to a guy with a blue shirt. You can't really see me here, but that's me.

In the seventh picture down, I can be seen on the left part of the picture. It's dark, but I'm the guy with glasses just barely visible in the darkness.

On the second page of pictures, I can be seen in the first one. My wife is next to me in the light-colored top, and we all have our hands up. I think this might have been during "So Young". It's blurry, but that's us.

I'm there again in the sixth picture on the second page, looking almost like I'm touching Jim's hand as I reach up in applause.

It was certainly a fun and memorable evening.

How I envy you! :D
I've unfortunately never been to a Corrs concert myself, but sitting in a front row seat at a Corrs concert making eye contact with Andrea Corr   ?? Could life get much better?

That review was simply amazing Harry and yes I can see you. :D

I do understand how you must have felt, a couple years ago I was 2nd row (was really like first as the seats curved & there was really no row 1 in front of me) at Olivia Newton-John's concert, she made eye contact with me alot & seemed to stay more at my side of the stage which was a memory I will never forget.

...who just purchased 1st row tickets to Art Garfunkel solo tour in March 2005 & can't wait, online...

Being close to the stage really changes the involvement level. I saw Peter Gabriel last summer, nine rows from the stage. With all the theatrics of his stage show, it's quite an experience to see it all up close. Saw the Doobies somewhere in the first 20 rows...nice also. :) Out on the lawn (at Pine Knob), I just feel too detached and distracted.

Sounds like it was a great concert, Harry! :)

It was terrific; memories I'll always treasure.

I received the picture of us and the Corrs today that one of the members of our little group got at the sound check. With a few minutes of a little crude photo editing, I managed to crop out the other people so this one is just my wife, Marie, myself, and Andrea, Jim, and Sharon Corr.

Wow Harry! Thanks for the pic of you and the corrs! I don't think I'd ever forget such an incredible chance to have your picture taken with the corrs! Truly it must have been an incredible night!! I'll bet you didn't sleep much that night! Tim.

No her hair is still long, though it's now blonde. It was so stiflingly hot in that venue on Saturday that all of us were melting just from the heat and humidity. The Corrs were running around the stage during the sound check and had just completed it. I believe Sharon had just tossed her hair behind her in an effort to get better ventilation. Andrea, during the picture shoot above actually told the promoters doing the photography to hurry up because she was 'melting.'

There wasn't a time for autographs, though I was prepared for that. I'd brought a Sharpie and the booklet for BORROWED HEAVEN with me, but there just wasn't time. When I met them in New York in 2000 I managed to get Jim and Caroline's autographs on an IN BLUE CD booklet. We also got one from Anto Drennan who was flattered that we wanted HIS autograph too.
