Why no Lani Hall CD releases?

Does anyone know why Lani Hall's six English language LPs (plus others) have never been released on CD? I am ignoring the one Japanese CD. Herb was the big cheese at A&M, and you'd think that he would want to release his wife's music. Considering that far less popular LP music has been released on CD, one would guess that Lani's work would have been released by now.

Welcome to the A&M Corner Pete.

It's anyone's guess as to why Lani's albums have seen so little daylight in CD format. As you mentioned, the Japanese gave SUN DOWN LADY a brief release a few years ago, and there've been two US compilations released: CLASSICS VOLUME 19, and COLLECTIBLES, both out of print. There was also a release of some of her favored Spanish-language songs called LO MEJOR DE LANI.

Other than that, that's it.

We do know that when Herb sold off A&M Records, and in the later settlement with PolyGram/Universal, he succesfully bargained for the rights to both his own ercordings as well as wife Lani's. What they're planning to DO with them has been the subject of conjecture. Word is (check other threads) that Herb has some project with the TjB material in the works. Stay tuned!
