Friends,
If you're in New York City, I strongly recommend that you go see the musical Anything Goes. Of course, as you know, Hall and Alpert recorded a haunting version of the song and Alpert, in performances, noted to listen to the lyrics. He's right, of course, but then the context of the song is important within the wider work of the musical. It's unbelievable to see on the stage, with singing and dancing that is breathtaking. And Sutton Foster is downright awesome. If she doesn;t win a Tony next week, there should be an investigation.
So watching this today kept reinforcing to me how musically in the the Alperts are, which comes as no surprise to this fan or any of you, I suppose....anything goes....
